From Wasting Time to Easily Booking Clients: How Sue’s New Website Transformed Her Business

Have you ever had a passion that you just knew could change lives, but struggled to get people to understand,  trust … and invest in it?

That’s exactly where my client, Sue, found herself. She had spent years training in the Tomatis Listening Method, a powerful approach to helping struggling students retrain their listening capacities so that learning and socializing became easier. She dreamed of bringing this work to students in her local Waldorf school, where she knew she could make a difference.

But there was a problem.

Despite her expertise, Sue wasn’t getting enough clients. The Waldorf community, known for its deep-rooted traditions, was skeptical of technology-based interventions like Tomatis. She spent hours explaining what she did to potential clients, answering the same questions repeatedly, and offering free guidance—only to have people walk away uncertain… and not ready to invest in working with her.

And on top of that, she was balancing an accounting business and single-handedly raising two teens after the loss of her husband.

Sue was overwhelmed. Her dream of growing this business—the one closest to her heart—felt like it just kept falling into the cracks between all her other commitments and responsibilities.

But then, she called me. Initially, she was looking for help designing a flyer to hang in her community. Instead, I helped her see that what she really needed was a brand and web presence that spoke for her, so she wouldn’t have to spend so much time explaining and convincing.

And wow—what a transformation she experienced! This is the story of how Sue went from struggling to be seen and understood to consistently booking clients who now come to her ready to work together.

The Before: An Unrecognized Expert

Sue is a true Renaissance woman—an educator, musician, accountant, lifelong learner, and deeply involved community member. She pours her heart into everything she does. And when she discovered the Tomatis Method, it became her mission to use it to help struggling learners.

But passion alone wasn’t enough. Her biggest challenge? People simply didn’t understand what she did or how it could help them. And in a community that tends to be wary of new methods – especially those involving electronic tools –  that misunderstanding created resistance.

Because her accounting business was paying the bills, most of her energy went there, leaving her little time to grow her second business. And even when she did get inquiries, she spent so much time educating potential clients that she had little energy left for the work itself. She needed a way to communicate her value clearly, attract the right clients, and reclaim her time.

The Solution: A Brand and Website That Speaks for Itself

Sue didn’t hesitate when I laid out a solution that would help her streamline her message, establish credibility, and attract the right audience. We got to work with a Brand Strategy Intensive and a series of DesignDays to transform her business from the inside out.

Step 1: Brand Clarity & Strategy

Using my Goldmining Workbook, Sue poured out years of insights, experiences, and expertise. I took all of this and distilled it down to her unique ✨magic✨—the essence of what makes her work special.

We positioned her as a SAGE—a wise guide with deep knowledge, ready to lead parents and children to a better future. When I reflected this back to her on a Zoom call, she was stunned. Sue is humble, but I knew she was exactly the kind of expert families could trust.

We also created a powerful positioning statement—a short, clear expression of what she does and why it matters. This became the foundation for her entire brand and the first sentence on her website.

A variation on the positioning statement, as seen at the top of Sue's website

Step 2: A Visual Brand That Builds Trust

Sue’s original logo was cluttered and overwhelming—too many colors, too many lines. It didn’t reflect her calm, grounded presence. (And from a functional perspective, it was difficult to use and always looked awkward and out of place.)

I designed a soothing brand identity, using blue and green tones to evoke trust and calmness, with a touch of sunny yellow for hope. Her new logo hints at sound waves (a nod to her work) but is much simpler and more refined. And because the Waldorf community has a distinct aesthetic, I incorporated subtle elements — like watercolor textures and a font specific to that subculture — which make her brand feel familiar and trustworthy to her ideal clients.

Step 3: Website Content that Connections and Converts

Sue had so much knowledge, but her challenge was distilling it into something clear and compelling. Using my Next Level Website Workbook, we structured her content to be deeply client-focused. We made sure that every single sentence on her web copy offered empathy, insight, or reassurance to her audience.

(I now collaborate with professional writers who polish up my client’s words even better than I could!)

Sue’s new website speaks directly to parents’ pain points, offering a clear vision of what’s possible for their children. It also tells her own story—how she discovered the Tomatis Method while searching for solutions for her own child. This heartwarming story builds instant credibility and connection with other parents on the same journey.

Step 4: …

Before working together, Sue barely had a website—just a URL with a logo and contact information on an empty white page – nobody could see the depth and impact of what she offers. 😢

Now, her home page is a comprehensive sales journey: it guides the reader from empathy for their current struggle, to a vision of hope. This is supported by educational sections which help parents understand the problem from a new angle, and shows how and why Sue is the perfect person to help.

I want to let you in a little secret…

I employed some subliminal ✨design magic✨  to underscore the reader’s journey from worry to hope. The “struggle” section features black and white photos of frustrated children; these shift to happy images in full color in the “possibilities” section (while the background gradually brightens from gray to a gentle yellow glow).

 [ SEE IT LIVE ]

Best of all, the new conversion-focused homepage guides visitors to a paid consultation. Remember how Sue used to spend hours talking to people who never became clients? Now, people who contact her are either ready to work together, or willing to pay for her insights in a consultation. Who doesn’t want that?

Lastly, we included a Q&A page answering the most common questions about her work. This page helps prospective clients educate themselves. This not only saves her hours and hours of precious time – but also helps her site rank on Google, bringing in organic traffic from families searching for solutions. #DoubleWin

The After: Confidence, Growth, and Time... and Paying Clients!

So, what happened after all these changes?

Deep clarity & confidence—Sue now owns her value and communicates it with ease.

No more wasted time—Her website directs visitors to a paid offer, so she’s no longer spending hours on free education.

✔ Better client fit—People now come to her ready to work together.

Increased respect in her field—Colleagues admire her brand, more easily recognize her abundant expertise, and often invite her to leadership roles.

Steady growth—Despite an economically tough 2024, Sue’s business continued to expand!

With her website doing the heavy lifting, she feels confident going into conferences and trade shows, knowing she has a platform that speaks for her. (Plus, knowing that all the important information is there, she doesn’t have to scramble to pull together materials 3 days before an event! A simple QR code drives people to the site, which does heavy lift for her.)

And she’s proud of what she’s built—a feeling that makes all the difference in marketing herself!
